Jerusalem Day (Yom Yerushalayim) is the day that commemorates Israel’s re-gain of control over the city in 1967. It is celebrated every year in May or June and is a day featuring festivities and events across Jerusalem – this year Jerusalem Day will take place June 1-2, 2019.
For the first time in 30 years, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem will be closed for Jewish visitors in Jerusalem. Special events will be held throughout Jerusalem, mostly free events throughout the day and into the evening.

May 29, 2019 – Jerusalem Day Tour at the National Library of Jerusalem.
”Jerusalem Above and Below, The Heavenly and Earthly Jerusalem in the National Library Collections”. Open at 18:00. This is a special opportunity to connect with history and view archive materials from the library.
June 1, 2019 – Festival Prayer at Mercaz Harav Yeshiva.
A festive prayer and a dance with Lehava Orchestra to start off Yom Yerushalayim.
June 1 – June 2, 2019 – Jerusalem Day Event: “The Other Day” – Street Game
A free event promoting a game that brings strangers together through short and deep personal conversations. The game takes place in the street and serves to promote collaboration, understanding and awareness.

June 2, 2019 – Dancing Flags for Jerusalem Day at the Western Wall Plaza.
From 16:30-18:30 – Gathering and dancing – Girls will gather at Bezalel, boys will gather in Heichal Shlomo. Dancing in the center of the city, taking place across 3 stages in King George with “Shir Chadash” and “Lev Tahor”. Followed by a march to the Western Wall plaza – girls through Jaffa Gate and Zion Gate – boys through the Damascus Gate and the Dung Gate. From 20:00-22:30 view the gathering at the Western Wall plaza with Lahav band and Beni Friedman.
June 2, 2019 – Footsteps of Yemenite Jews in Jerusalem in honor of Jerusalem Day at Safra Square.
Starting at 15:30 join a guided tour with Malka Eliyahu Kosovitz. Explore the Museum of the Old Yishuv Court, enjoy Yemenit singing including a henna ceremony led by Mrs. Sarah Sharabi and a tour of the Jewish Quarter in the Footsteps of Yemenite Jews. Tour is approximately 3-4 hours. Free admission.
June 2, 2019 – Jerusalem Forest Jerusalem Day Festivities.
Free event and special shared activities for the whole family starting at 16:30 in the parking lot “Zippori Center – Jerusalem Forest”. Visitors must register online in advance.
June 2, 2019 – Visit the Agnon House for a special Jerusalem Day Event.
Visitors are encouraged to bring with them a quote from Agnon’s writings describing a Jerusalem “type”. During the meeting, participants will read together and discuss the differences that make up the city of Jerusalem. In honor of Jerusalem day the events will promote tolerance in the city. Free event starting at 19:00 at Agnon House, 16 Klausner Street, Jerusalem.
June 2, 2019 – Jerusalem March – family-friendly event.
A family march organized by the Jerusalem communities in the celebration and promotion of diversity. With musical accompaniment by Marsh Dondurma. Free and suitable for all ages. 16:30-19:30. March commences at the Oranim Junction at 16:30 and will end at 18:00 at the Station area.
June 2, 2019 – 52nd Jerusalem Day at the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem.
From 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm families and visitors can enjoy guided tours throughout the museum with free entrance after 12:00pm. The museum shows an exciting look at the past with historical figures and personalities. Additionally, the Jerusalem Orchestra East-West with singers Orit Atar and Emil Zrihan. From 3:30-5:00 pm, the Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr and Mrs Moshe Lion will also be at the museum to meet and greet with visitors.
June 2, 2019 – Jerusalem Day – Eve Ceremony at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem.
The gates will open to the public at 17:30 and the show will commence at 19:30. Free admission, no advance reservations needed.
