Christmas in Nazareth

21 December 2009 No Comment

There may not be snow, but Christmas in Nazareth is just as festive. Join ISRAEL21c on a visit to Nazareth, the town where Jesus grew up, as it prepares for the holiday.

The largest Arab city in Israel, Nazareth – in Israel’s north – is also home to the country’s large Arab Christian community.

Every year at this time, the city’s Christian population decorates their Christmas trees and dons their Santa suits to celebrate the birth of Jesus with festivals, church services, presents, and parties.

On the eve of Christmas thousands of the town’s inhabitants take part in a colorful procession through the city that locals call the city of peace.

Nazareth is a fantastic city, and you can read more about travelling to Nazareth here.
