Cairo, Luxor, and Highlights of Egypt Tour from Eilat – 4 Days Itinerary
- 21:00 – Meeting point at the Taba Border. Cross on your own to meet your driver on the Egyptian side
- Travel through Sinai overnight ( about 10 – 12-hour drive) and pass through the Suez Canal on the way
- 07:00 – 08:00 AM – Arrive in Cairo and see one of the world’s largest metropolises come to life. Stop in a local restaurant to freshen up after the drive and have breakfast before you start out for the day
- 09:00 Explore the spectacular Egyptian Museum, one of the world’s largest museums and a virtual treasure trove of historical wonders. Your visit includes a stop at the Mummy Room, the final resting place for Pharaohs and Queens of ancient times. You will have approximately 2 hours to view the museum
- 12:00 – 13:30 – Lunch at a local restaurant
- 14:30 – Visit the Papyrus Institute to learn more about the fascinating history of this versatile plant, native to the Nile Delta. Papyrus was first manufactured in Egypt as far back as the fourth millennium BCE
- 17:00 – Check in to your hotel
- Overnight in Cairo and enjoy a free evening and option to enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile
- 8:00 AM – Pick up from your hotel after breakfast and head out for a fabulous day of exploring.
- Visit the larger than life Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx statue. You will have your lunch at a local restaurant close to the Pyramids
- After lunch, it is time to continue to Sakkara, the burial ground of Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt. Among the many pyramids in this UNESCO site is the famous stepped pyramid of the Pharaoh Djoser, so make sure you have your cameras and Instagram captions ready
- After a full day of touring, you will proceed to the famous Cairo train station to board the equally famous sleeper train to Luxor. Dinner is served on the train as you travel south through the Nile Valley to Upper Egypt
- 06:00 AM – After eating breakfast on the train you arrive in Luxor. You will be met on the platform by our local guide
- 08:00 – Start the day touring the ‘West Bank’ of Luxor, and the Valley of the Kings. Before you cross to the east side, you will have lunch at a local restaurant experiencing the variations of Upper Egypt's cuisine
- 14:00 – The afternoon will be spent exploring the ‘East Bank’ of Luxor, including the Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple
- 19:00 – Early evening, you will return to the Luxor station and board the sleeper train back to Cairo. Dinner will be served again on the train
- 06:00 AM – After spending the night in your sleeper compartment, you arrive bright and early in Cairo for another full day of sightseeing. Set off to see the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo’s Coptic Church, Synagogue of Ben Ezra, Cairo’s oldest synagogue, and the Citadel of Saladin
- 14:00 – Time for a quick lunch on the Nile before heading back to Taba border
- 15:00 – Leave Cairo around 15:00 for your drive back to Taba. The journey through the desert will take about 8-10 hours. The tour ends as you return to Taba border. From here, taxis are readily available to most destinations in Eilat
