The city of Bat-Yam is located on Israel’s Mediterranean Coast, just minutes south of the city of Tel Aviv. Often overshadowed by its northern resort rivals Herzliya and Netanya, and the city of Tel Aviv itself, Bat-Yam is a city that is changing – with massive investment bringing tourists to stay in Bat-Yam instead of in Tel Aviv or elsewhere. The city has great promenades and beaches, but things to do in Bat-Yam extend beyond the beach – to the museums, galleries, and many other exciting activities that are on offer.
What to do in Bat-Yam

Bat-Yam’s beautiful golden beach is perhaps the greatest asset of this city. Less crowded than the Tel Aviv Beach, Bat-Yam’s beach is equally impressive, and has a wide array of great activities for everyone – from surfing and windsurfing, to sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling. If the water isn’t your thing, but you are still a thrill seeker, get a different perspective of Bat-Yam by going paragliding or parachuting and seeing the city, and the wider Israeli Coastal Plain from high above. There are also a great selection of less extreme activities to take part in, including, free activities on the beach throughout the summer including beach volleyball , tai-chi, Chi-kung, body building, gymnastics, yoga, Nordic walking, and the Israeli classic, Matkot.

Beyond the beach, Bat-Yam has some impressive cultural activities including the Bat-Yam Museum for Contemporary Art which features changing international exhibitions, and a permanent display of the Moby sculpture collection, and the Havayedda experiential science center which is great for kids with loads of interactive exhibitions, live experiments, and fun demonstrations.
