Masada is a place of triumph and tragedy, a symbol of strength and resistance. What makes our tour so special is its early departure time in order to catch the incredible sunrise. The sunrise hike to the top of Masada is something of a national icon in Israel, with youth and groups of all ages taking this hike both for its beauty and historic significance. The amazing views across the surrounding landscapes are perhaps the ultimate highlight of our Masada Sunrise Tour. You will not be disappointed! Perched on top of a mountain, Masada, an ancient desert fortress, overlooks the Dead Sea on one side and the extraordinary landscape of the Negev desert to the other. It is famous for being the last stand of the Jewish revolt against the Romans. Here, the ancient Maccabi's withheld a brutal Roman siege for over a year. With the inevitable fall of the city, the Maccabis' committed suicide, preferring to die free than to become slaves of the Roman empire. What remains today are carefully maintained archaeological ruins that dot the ancient fortress, bringing to life the story of what once was.
