It’s hard to imagine something more magical than hiking and horse riding through the Biblical back-country of the Galilee in Northern Israel. This unique and unimaginably memorable one day tour follows a dramatic segment of the Jesus Trail at the breathtaking descent towards the Sea of Galilee. Split into two parts, this day will be half a day on horseback, and half a day on foot.
Depart from Kibbutz Lavi and ride with an experienced guide towards the Sea of Galilee along the world-famous Jesus Trail
En-route, you’ll traverse the ‘The Horns of Hattin’, the site of a famous Crusader battle against Saladin with stunning views over the surrounding valleys
Following the path of the Jesus Trail, you’ll pass the grave of Jetro, an ancient shrine which is holy for the Druze religion.
Reaching Arbel stream, you’ll stop for a break to enjoy some local wines, cakes and optional lunch.
The second half of the day is a self-guided hiking tour of the region.
You’ll explore Magdala (Migdal), the home of Mary Magdalene and Capernaum, the ancient town on the sea of Galilee which was home to many of Jesus’s disciples.
Take a refreshing swim in the Sea of Galilee before heading back to Kibbutz Lavi.
NB – the order of the day could switch with hiking in the morning, and horse riding in the afternoon
08.15 – Optional pickup from Golani junction
08:30 – Start of horseback ride at Kibbutz Lavi. Visit ‘The horns of Hattin’, Jetro and Arbel stream.
13:00 – Lunch. (Food can be provided for extra cost)
13:30 – start self guided tour at Magdala (Migdal). Explore Magdala, Capernaum and the Sea of Galilee.
17:00 – Return to Kibbutz Lavi
17.15 – Transportation back to Golani Junction

The ride could be divided into two groups, fast riders and walking pace riders
No previous knowledge of riding is required.
Minimum age of 8
Optional lunch costs 35 NIS, including shawarma, falafel and hummus
Riding Safety is ensured by the ride operator, which includes wearing riding hats.
