More information about the Caesarea, Haifa, Rosh Hanikra and Akko Tour
First stop on the day is Caesarea. Caesarea, built by King Herod, during the rule of Roman Empire, was one of the Eastern Mediterranean's most important strategic points. Delve into the depths of history with a state of the art presentation explaining the city's colourful past. Explore lost treasures in the underwater antiquities park, go back in time with a walk inside the hippodrome and scale the impressive amphitheatre, once a 15,000 seat open air auditorium which today remains largely intact and is still used for concerts and events.
From here, we'll head north to the beautiful city of Haifa. Located on the slopes of Mount Carmel, Israel's third largest city is home to both Jews and Arabs, and is a melting pot of cultures and ideas. You'll have the chance to appreciate the beauty of Haifa with a visit to the Bahai' gardens - a world heritage site home to the Bahai faith.
Third stop on the tour is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Akko, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world (dating back to about 1,500 BCE). Built by the Crusaders, it's walled city lies intact and is UNESCO recognized. You will take a walk along both the land and sea walls and explore the bustling market regarded to be a myriad of coexistence due to its mixed Arab and Jewish populations.
Finally a visit to the caves of Rosh Hanikra completes the day. It's beautiful cliffs and grottoes have been formed over thousands of years by the power of the sea hitting the soft chalk. Travel down into the caves in a cable car and experience the amazing light and sounds of these natural wonders.
