The Karmiel Dance Festival hosts about 5,000 dancers from Israel and abroad who take part in about 80 events and performances. 2011 marks the 10th Karmiel Dance Festival in which Karmiel, this city in the Upper Galilee located between Akko and Safed transforms into a center for international dance. The festival contains general activities, a bazaar and is expected to attract over 300,000 visitors and guests. The Karmiel Dance Festival 2012 will run between August 6-9, 2012. Every year at the time of the festival of Passover the town of Ma’alot in Israel's Upper Galilee hosts the renowned Stone in the Galilee Symposium at Lake Monfort. An event capturing the attention of sculptors the world over, the Stone in the Galilee Symposium has been an active part in the Israeli activities calender since 1992. The Israeli city of Safed in the Upper Galilee region, hosts the annual International Klezmer Festival. The festival is the biggest festival of Jewish soul music in the world that and the 2011 festival will be its 24th occurrence, expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors from across Israel and further afield to the city known for its place at the center of the mystical Kabballah.
