‘Air Haifa’ is finally here. This new Israeli airline has been reported to launch its debut flight sometime in 2024 from the northern port city of Haifa. With the goal to alleviate the burden of short-haul flights for northern Israel residents, this initiative has been approved by Transportation Minister, Miri Regev. Air Haifa will launch flights to the following tourist locations: Eilat, Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey.
However, flying from Haifa to Cyprus will likely cost double the amount as a flight departing from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. In June 2023, Haifa Airport resumed operations following its 4-year hiatus. The airport serves commercial flights from Israeli carriers such as Arkia and Israir, as well as facilitates helicopter services, flight schools, and more.
