The Eilat Festival for Chamber Music is one of Israel’s top music festivals, taking place each year in a magical amphitheater facing the red mountains of the southern Israeli city of Eilat. The festival attracts world acclaimed musicians and ensembles who gather to give chamber and orchestral concerts, opera, dance and gypsy music. The 2012 Eilat Festival for Chamber Music will take place between March 11-17, and will feature British ensemble La Serenissima, the State Choir Latvija, as well as Stephen Kovacevic, Natalie Clien, Valeriy Sokolow, and Eniko Magyar

New International Airport for Eilat to be Built at Timna: Ramon International Airport

The Israeli government has approved the construction of a new international airport for Eilat to replace the small airport currently serving the city, and the south of Israel. The new airport will be built in Timna, about 30 kilometers north of Israel’s window onto the Red Sea, Eilat, and will be named Ramon International Airport after Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon who was killed in the 2003 Colombia Disaster, and his son Asaf Ramon, who was killed in 2009 during a routine training flight whilst serving in the Israeli Air Force.
