Active & Adventure
Tennis
Tennis is widely availabale in Israel, as in much of Europe. Many hotels have tennis courts which are often open to non-guests as well as those staying there. Courts are also available in most towns and cities across the country.
The Israel Tennis Centers which run the world’s largest childrens tennis program, are located across the country including ones in Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tiberias. For a full list see there website.
Golf
Caesarea is host to Israel’s only full size golf course. Designed by Pete Dye the new 18 hole course opened in May, 2009. Just north of Herzliya, in Gaash is Israel’s other golf course – a nine hole course.
More golf courses are currently under construction and in the planning stages including one near Eilat and two at Mount Arbel in the Galilee.
Go-Karting
Tracks can be found up and down the country, including in Netanya, Herzliya, and at Montfort in the Western Galilee.
Skiing & Snowboarding
Mount Hermon Ski Resort, Israel’s only ski resort is in The Golan has 50 days of skiing a year in the winter months as Israel’s only ski resort. Whilst not a world-class resort, it is pretty cool to be able to ski less than three hours away from the desert, and attracts almost 300,000 visitors a year. The resort is also open in the summer months and is really popular for its diversity of plant life and magnificent views. The lifts are open all year round.
Yoga
Yoga is another activity which has grown astronomically in popularity in Israel in recent years. Estimates show that there are 100,000 practitioners and 2,000 teachers in this country of just 7 million, and it is growing astronomically. Centers can be found everywhere from the cities to the smallest rural communties.
