Things to do in Israel in February 2013
February in Israel is a month of change as winter draws to an end, and many annual events take place in the milder weather. February 2013 in Israel includes the Jewish festival of Purim which is a major celebration across the country, concerts by the likes of KY Mani Marley and Calexico, two amazing month long exhibitions, and countless other cultural events.
February 2013 Events in Israel
January 31-February 2 (and the following 3 weekends) – Darom Adom Festival. Celebrating the red color that the northern Negev Desert turns in February as beautiful flowers spread across the region, the Darom Adom Festival features four weekends of themed events.
From February 3 – Van Gogh Alive. The international Van Gogh Alive exhibition comes to Tel Aviv for the first time. It’s interactive display of over 1,000 of the iconic artists’ works has been seen my thousands around the world.
February 4, 11 - Sounds of Winter. Mondays in Jerusalem each feature over twenty free or very cheap events for young people ranging from music to art, and much more.
February 7 – Pat Mahoney in Tel Aviv. The former LCD Soundsystem front-man will play Tel Aviv for one night only.
February 9 – Freshly Grooved Tel Aviv. The third in this series of great winter world-beat music nights comes to Tel Aviv, this time featuring Balkan Beat Box’s DJ Shotnez.
February 14 – Valentines Day in Israel. Valentines Day might not be as big in Israel as it is elsewhere, but there are some great things happening across the country.
February 15 – Group Hike in the Ella Valley. The first in a series of weekend hikes leaving from Jerusalem and perfect for English speakers.
February 20 - KY Mani Marley in Tel Aviv. Bob Marley’s son, KY Mani, comes to Tel Aviv for one hotly awaited concert.
February 20-April 30 – Jerusalem Ice Festival. Returning for its second year following the great success of 2012, this event transforms Spring Jerusalem into a winter wonderland.
February 21 – Mark Ronson in Tel Aviv. Mark Ronson comes back to Tel Aviv to give a special performance at his mega Purim party.
February 22-23 – Purim in Israel. Perhaps the most secular Jewish festival of them all, Purim is an evening on which the whole of Israel comes out to party.
February 27-March 2 -EPOS, The International Art Film Festival, dedicated to encounters between the arts and cinema, take place in Tel Aviv.
February 28 – Calexico in Tel Aviv. The indie group who have received acclaim around the globe come to Tel Aviv for two concerts.
