Jerusalem Ice Festival. February-April, 2013

The second Jerusalem Ice Festival will take place between February 20 and April 30, 2013. The festival will be held in the Old Railway Station in Jerusalem and will include ice sculptures of many of the city’s major sites, an ice skating rink, a concert area, and an ice bar. All in a city which sees only a dusting of snow every few years! Because of the mild spring temperatures that Jerusalem will see during March and April, the area will be artificially cooled to about -10 degrees Celsius.

The Jerusalem Ice Festival is designed for the whole family and the sculpture exhibition will be entered through an ice version of the Jaffa Gate (of the Old City) and sites including the Tower of David, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem and the new Jerusalem Light Rail created in ice. There will also be fun for kids with ice slides linking the displays.

The festival is being organised by the Jerusalem Municipality and facilitated by 35 sculptors, technicians, designers and builders who will come to Israel during February from China to prepare the amazing exhibition. The Jerusalem Ice Festival 2013 follows the 2012 festival which was the first of its kind in Israel and a major success.
