Jerusalem City Tours

27 July 2009 No Comment

So many things to see. So many ways to see them. We explore the options.

Tours run around Jerusalem in many forms. They might not (all) be the coolest ways to see the city, but do present the city in an interesting way.

Walking tours

Walking Tours of the city are run by the Jerusalem Municipality. These tours meet at Safra Square, 26 Jaffa Street at 10AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and are in English. The cost is NIS 30 on Friday, and are free on Saturday. They offer a great way to see the city, especially considering the Old City is largely inaccessible by bus.

Alternatively, an independent tour guide could be hired for the day, or a free tour could be taken with Sandeman’s. These free tours run every day at 11AM at the Jaffa Gate and are pretty comprehensive in covering the old city. For more, visit www.newjerusalemtours.com.

Bus Tours

Bus Route 99 is a double decker bus which passes most of the city’s major sites. With an audio tour it is useful as a general overview of the city which takes two hours, or for getting between sites. This is a great option although the Old City is much better explored by foot.

Running Tours

Another way to see a great city is whilst jogging. Designed for businesspeople with not all that much time, Run the City run a range of tours of Jerusalem for those who are short on time, or just want to explore whilst getting fit!

Segway Tours

A fun, way to explore Jerusalem. It wont use up too much energy but will take up concentration!

MP3 Tours

Alternatively, and we think this is also a cool way of touring the city, www.jerusalemmp3.com offers mp3 tours of the city. With 80 sites included, simply download and listen.
