Israel’s Mediterranean Coast has been ruled by tens of empires throughout history who have created a fascinating mosaic of historic sites. This group day tour starts from hotels in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and stops at the ancient port of Caesarea, beautiful city of Haifa (Israel’s San Francisco), UNESCO Heritage Site of Akko, and the phenomenal grottoes at Rosh Hanikra.
Coastal Tour Highlights
- Visit ancient Caesarea with its Roman amphitheater, port, hippodrome, and aqueduct. This is a magnificent archaeological site which has been incredibly restored and brought back to life.
- Explore Israel’s third city, Haifa set on the slopes of Mount Carmel which you will drive alongside on the way.
- In the city, you will visit the National Maritime Museum, and relive maritime history from both Israel and the rest of the world.
- Travel further north, to ancient Akko, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world (dating back to about 1,500 BCE). It’s Walled City is UNESCO recognized and you will take a walk along the land and sea walls and explore the local market of this city regarded to be a myriad of coexistence due to its mixed Arab and Jewish populations.
- Visit Rosh Hanikra, on Israel’s far-northern border. It’s beautiful cliffs and grottoes have been formed over thousands of years by the power of the sea hitting the soft chalk. Travel down into the caves in a cable car and experience the amazing light and sounds of these natural wonders.
