Curtain Up Dance Festival in Tel Aviv. November 3-12, 2011
The Curtain up is an annual Israeli dance event hosted each year by the Suzanne Dellal Center in Neve Tzedek, Tel Aviv. The festival is a celebration of contemporary Israeli choreography showcasing diverse works, particularly by emerging Israelis. The festival takes place over the course of ten days during November, and includes three programs (curtains) of dance each under the auspices of a different dance director. The 2011, Curtain up Dance Festival will take place between November 3-12.
The festival is divided into three curtains featuring a total of ten young choreographers
The theme of Curtain 1 is introspection. This features choreographers Iris Erez with Shutters, Maya Brinner with Forest and Maya Weinberg with Some Fish (swim up the river to die). Performances at the Suzanne Dellal Centre: November 3 and 12 at 21:00, and at the Jerusalem Theatre: November 10 at 20:30
The theme of Curtain 2 is the sequences of movement and the spaces between them. It presents works by Roy Assaf, Noa Tzuk, Doron Raz and Gili Nabut. Performances at the Suzanne Dellal Centre: November 4 at 22:00 and November 10 at 21:00 and at the Jerusalem Theatre: November 8 at 20:30
The theme of Curtain 3 is the tough questions as well as the clichés ofcontemporary dance, and it features Indecent Movement by Hillel Kogan, In Her Words by Rachel Erdos and The Sad Little Sensitive Jesus Man by Osnat Kellner. Performances at the Suzanne Dellal Centre: November 5 at 21:00 and November 11 at 22:00 and at the Jerusalem Theatre: November 9 at 20:30
